Autumn Jubilee gets underway today with the first project and the first giveaway! I know that handwork is not everyone’s cup of tea, but if you try wool applique, you might change your mind. So many cute designs, and it goes so quickly, a project doesn’t take a long time.

Autumn Jubilee just doesn’t have enough days for all the projects I have in mind, so today will be a bit of a hodgepodge of ideas and projects, and a tutorial. How are you doing with your wool cornucopia project? I have had fun doing this hand work project, and also delighted in the shares in our Facebook Friends group with some converting this idea into a raw edge applique project. You all are so creative, and I have really enjoyed seeing the projects in progress. Today we finish the stitch along, and I’ll give you two ways to complete your project.

We left off last week with all the embellishments finished. Now to decide if it will become a pillow or wall hanging.

This week we will embellish the cornucopia Wool Stitch Along piece using floss and beads. You can add whatever you like, embellish as much or as little as suits your fancy. I use DMC floss for the leaf accents, cornucopia details and pumpkin lines. I mentioned last time that I like Aurifil’s wool thread for doing the applique stitching, and you can also use it for the accent lines.

Starting with the cornucopia, I mark lines using a Chaco Marker. It makes thin chalk lines that easily brush away.

Then, stitch along those lines using a back stitch.

Here we go!! Today we begin with the wool stitch along project. I have designed a pattern for you that will be appropriate for not only early fall, but will carry all the way through to Thanksgiving.

I do hope you like the design of a overflowing cornucopia! We will work the wool design on a 12-inch base, then embellish it, and finish in your choice of a pillow or wall hanging. You’ll need a 12-inch square of wool in a base color, and scraps of fall inspired colors for the fruits and vegetables. The design will do well ...

Today we embellish and finish the needle keeper. Get out your stash of seed beads and other little lovelies, and add some bling to the project as you wish. For me, I put veins on the leaves with wool thread.

One thing in my hand sewing basket that I use a lot is my felt needle keeper. It was a party favor years ago at a quilt club Christmas party. It is getting a bit shabby, but is so useful, that I thought maybe it would be nice to make one in wool. So our Autumn Jubilee Wool stitch along will be a needle keeper, but you can use the motifs to do a little penny rug instead if you prefer. I have already had two disqualifications for different reasons, and I really don’t want to leave anyone out.  Now, let’s finish the pillow on our Wool Stitch Along.  When we left off, the appliques were stitched, and the veins were stitched.  This week we’ll embellish a bit and finish the project.

Are you having fun with Autumn Jubilee? (#AutumnJubilee2020)  Today we continue with a new wool stitchery project.  I hope you like this new design!  This year we will make a wool pillow for a lovely Autumn accent.  You can also finish this into a wall hanging if you choose not to do a pillow.  Begin with selecting some beautiful wool felts or wool fabrics for your project. Yes, I got it done!  Finishing the wool work stitchery was a concentrated effort, working on it for several days to finish the details.  I don’t like to have UFOs, and I wanted this done to enjoy this season.  I left off needing to attach the last leaf, and get the veining and details embroidered.

I matched the DMC floss colors to the wool colors.  Five lines help define the pumpkin contours.

Leaf veins were embroidered on all the leaves.

After couple of days of concentrated effort, I finished the embroidery of both ends.

Did you get at least one end of your runner done?  Working on it during football games, I’ve been able to get the leaves stitched down, and begin the embellishments on one end.  Here is where we left off last week, with the shapes pinned in place.

The Wool Stitch Along begins today, with an original pattern and a fabulous giveaway!!  We’ve done some little penny rugs in the past, and last year did a fun mini wall hanging.  This year we go bigger, with a table runner.
